In the midst of all the change going on in our house, I have finally found some time to finish a book I have been in for some time. I think I finished it while comforting Alexis. The book is “Robin Hood Marketing - Stealing Corporate Savvy to Sell Just Causes” by Katya Andresen. It is one of the best books I have found on applying fundamental marketing principles to the unique world of non-profits. Too often we get caught up in our mission and expect everyone else to do so also. This is a great book for discovering the power of decentralisation or as the books subtitle says “The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organisations.” Using the core illustration of the fact that just a single amputated leg of a starfish can regrow to a complete starfish, the authors further illustrate the power of decentralisation by the example of the Apaches resisting the Spanish army.
